I love writing about fashion trends. Because there are many interesting things going on on runways. I don’t personally attend to them, but I love watching them from home as well. And today, I decided to tell you about the fall/winter 2020-2021 fashion trends, so if you are looking forward to knowing all of the pieces that are gonna be very trending this year, stay with me and discover them right away.
There were many designers represented in fall/winter fashion shows. They gave us, fashion gurus the opportunity to understand upcoming trends to look chic.
So, those are the pieces that almost every designer used in their collections. And, we can guess that they are gonna be HUGE this year.
I loved many of them but do you wonder about my thoughts about trends? I think that you should wear everything you like and everything you look great in. But if you wear clothes that are trending and you love them as well, that’s gonna be perfect. Do I make sense? I hope, I do.
Okay, now let’s find out what pieces you should write down for your next shopping list.
Latex
Latex is the rubber fabric that was created in the late 19th century. The purpose of it was to use it in waterproof coats. It has been used since the 20th century very often. But it became more visible in the fashion industry lately. You would see, many pop musicians wore it at their concerts before.
So, latex clothes, shoes and outerwear is an upcoming trend for fall/winter. If you think, it’s not for you, check out latex leggings and wear them. Then you will find out if you like it or not. Or latex boots are another piece that you may like and feel comfy to wear them.

Velvet
Velvet isn’t a new thing in the fashion industry. It was very popular many years ago too. But we know things are coming back in trend and velvet is the one.

Retro style
Likewise, velvet, retro fashion is coming back to trends this year. I love that style and I would love to wear many outfits with it.
So, if you are a lover of vintage suits, dresses, and accessories, it’s time for you to shine. Don’t forget jeans that can make your outfit a complete retro style.

Big sleeves
I personally have already seen that a lot in fashion, even before the runways. By the way, I love it.
What I mean by big sleeves is that tops and dresses that have some volume in their sleeves are becoming very trendy this year.
So, the sweater with good volumized sleeves should be on your shopping list.

Embellishments
If you already have a dress with elegant decorations on it, you are lucky. Get ready to wear it this year.
Not only dress but there were too many designer pieces presented on runway shows. Containing coats, sweaters, and shoes.

Flowy dresses
If you take attention to people in the street, you are gonna notice that many people wear everything oversized. Tops, pants, jackets, coats, and others. That leads us to think that, the fashion industry “requires” comfy clothes already.
Flowy dresses are another example of this. They were and will be a huge trend for fall/winter 2020-2021.

Clothes with cut-outs

Showing off some skin this winter will be a thing that you are gonna see everywhere this year.
Personally, I am not going to follow this trend, because I am feeling cold even in two or three layers, in winter. So, this is not for me. (Yeah, I am kidding!)
Another way, I think a warm coat can solve the problem. And that is gonna be a perfect combination. Warm coat and dress with cut-outs, why not?
Ruffles
I love ruffles!! It’s so powerful detail in styling. Not because it is beautiful but also because it can do a lot of things for you. When it comes to hiding some parts of your body, ruffles are the best.
You don’t know what I mean?! Check out my post about flattering tops to hide everything extra. There you are gonna discover some tricks to hide your tummy, flabby arms, or whatever, you name it.

Pleated skirts & dresses
We saw this on-trend before the runways. But it’s gonna be a trending piece in fall/winter 2020-2021.
There are many possible ways to wear a pleated skirt or even a dress. It’s easy to pair it with something casual or classy. So, it’s the easiest trend to follow in 2020.
And everyone has at least one pleated skirt in their wardrobe.

Big fringes
Have you watched The Great Gatsby? If you haven’t seen it, watch it on Netflix.
I remembered the movie because the main story is happening in the 1920s-1930s. That is the time when women were wearing those retro clothes. Fringes were the main detail used in those dresses and tops.
Now, likewise, many other details, fringes are becoming a huge trend this year too. You are gonna see many clothes with fringes in your local stores.

Capes
Capes were the piece that every fashion designer contained in their fall/winter 2020-2021 collection. So, we definitely need to think that they are gonna be trending this fall/winter.

Leather outfits
Leather outfits are coming for a few years but it’s still gonna be a trend for the fall of 2020-2021.
In case you want to check out some ideas about how to wear faux leather leggings, you should check out my post about it to get some outfit inspiration.
Now, what do I think about leather outfits? I think they are perfect. You can create fabulous outfits with leather and I think they look amazing. They make you look stylish, chic, and modern.

Padded shoulders
When it comes to flattering your body the right way, it’s a good idea to balance your higher and lower body. Padded shoulders will be perfect for almost all body shapes, excluding inverted triangle body shapes because they have broad shoulders. So, padded shoulders make them look broader.
Another way, it’s a great option for other body shapes like pear, apple, and hourglass. Because strong shoulders make them look larger on their higher bodies, while they have smaller higher bodies compared to lower bodies.
I think strong shoulders look very flattering on women. It looks pretty feminine as well.

So, give it a try! Just avoid wearing tops and dresses with padded shoulders if you have broad shoulders.
Mixed patterns

Mixed patterns mean wearing two different patterns on your higher and lower body.
It seems very interesting but there would definitely be things that you consider while you are combining two patterns. Not every single pattern will pair together.
High-neck coat
Another interesting upcoming trend from runways is high-neck coats.
If you decide to wear high-neck coats, that will be great. Here are my recommendations on them.
Find a coat that is very long and has a high neck as well. It will make a huge change to your body. You are gonna look two times higher. So, it’s a perfect option for petite women.

Loose pants
I said that oversized clothes are very trending lately. Especially in 2020.
So another thing that designers presented on the runway is loose pants.
Loose pants are great to flatter your body. But, you have to find a perfect size, which won’t hide all of your curves at once.

Another type of pants that is gonna be trending in fall/winter is flare pants. It is another piece that many designers contained in their collection.
Flare pants are also great to flatter your body. It’s also great for most body shapes among women.

Faux fur
Faux fur was huge some years ago. Not a very long ago. And it seems to come back again.
I love it and the only thing I can say about it is that there are tons of possible ways to wear them. I mean they are easy to pair with anything.

Victorian collar

If you are the lover of very cute feminine details on your clothes, here it comes. Victorian collared tops and dresses are other pieces that you should have in your wardrobe for the next two seasons.
Asymmetrical shoulders

Feather details

Long denim skirts

Can you look at the picture again? Don’t you like the outfit?
I love it. A long denim skirt and long blazer look amazing together.
If your office rules are not too strict and you can wear denim jeans, you can definitely go with a long denim skirt and blazer.
Slouchy suits

Cozy cardigan

Polka dots

You are not seeing polka dots on trends for the first time, right?
They were trending very often even before. The good thing about it is that it’s also easy to pair with something.
And another thing, you can choose your office outfit from various types and colors with polka dots.
Off-shoulders

Bohemian outfits

I was pretty surprised while I saw those bohemian outfits on the runway. More surprising thing is that it already moved from runways to the street.
