Okay! I just wanted to make sure you know I have a pear shape as well. Pear shaped outfits are the most common outfits that I seek out regularly.
I would say you have to trust me if you want to look the best version of yourself with your wide hips and thighs.
Lol…
How do I know that?
Well, well…
I know it because, as you already know (or just found out), I am one of you with a pear body shape.
Before we get to the actual outfits, let me share the main features of the pear body shape.
So, having the pear body shape means hips and thighs are the widest parts of your body.
However, this is not everything. We are gonna go into more detail through the article, so stay with me.
Apart from making a clear image of the pear body shape, let me tell you another thing.
When I am writing the article for specific body types, I often get feedback saying, “Why should I hide something?”, “I will wear whatever I want”, and so on and so forth.
The thing is, I am writing these articles for those who are struggling to make outfits that look flattering on their body shape.
If you already know your body shape and have discovered what works for you, congratulations! You’ve taken a significant step forward.
In fact this (and other body shape-related articles) are for those who want to make the most out of their body. Those who are not sure what looks flattering on their body.
I am here to help them find wardrobe pieces that make them look like the best version of themselves.
Hope you understand me right.
And sorry for the long introduction. I just wanted to make some things clear.
Now, let’s get into the pear shaped outfits you are looking for.
High-waisted wide-leg pants + tight top
As a woman with a pear body shape, the top part of your body is smaller than the bottom.
That’s totally OK. I am in the same boat., remember that.
So, the key to wearing flattering outfits for your body is to define your (narrow) waist. Plus, make sure you are getting the perfect balance between your upper and lower body.
Wide leg pants can visually lengthen your legs and also create balance without clinging to the thighs.
Tight tops are for defining your upper body – so you are like, “I have a narrow waist, and I want to show that to you”. You get it, right?
It’s not always necessary to wear wide-leg pants.
Straight leg and bootcut jeans look great on your body shape as well.
But will you believe me when I say I never wear any of them?
Yeah, really.
However, I always ensure that the pants or skirt I wear are dark in color. Why?
Because lighter colors always get more attention than dark ones.
By emphasizing my upper body, I draw less attention to my lower body.
Here is me with a pear body shape. And that’s what I typically wear.

Jumspuit + bright top
Can you wear a jumpsuit? Yes, totally.
Do I wear them? Yes, but not very often.
It’s really hard to find the perfect jumpsuit for a pear body shape.
But the key things that your jumpsuit should have is
- It should be wide or have straight leg
- The jumpsuit should be in a dark, solid color
- Off-shoulder jumpsuits would be great
- Look for belted versions of them
To achieve a balanced look, focus on accentuating your upper body and defining your waist. You should also allow your hips to have a more relaxed fit.
Crop top + maxi skirt
The key in this outfit is the crop top.
Generally, women with a pear shape have a very defined, narrow waist. And we have to accentuate that.
Crop tops do a great job of it. They effectively highlight your waist and draw attention to exposed skin.
All black outfit
We all know black has a slimming effect.
Wearing black gives you a sleek look and helps de-emphasize the width of your hips.
Along with that, wearing the same color on both upper and lower body means you are wearing a monochromatic outfit.
Wearing all one color can make you look taller and more balanced.
Here is my article with more ways to look taller and slimmer. I promise you are gonna love it.
This is me wearing all black outfits in summer (lol). I am good at photographing others, but I am not a good model (with poses), I know.
Btw, here is my article about wearing all black outfits for a month if you are looking for it.

Outfit with a big belt
At first, I didn’t like the outfit, but here are some key features that make the outfit work for this body type.
The first thing that gets attention is definitely the belt. We can say it’s a statement piece in the outfit.
When wearing something tight and short, add an interesting element.
The next thing that makes the outfit look flattering on a pear body shape is the top half of the jumpsuit.
The jumpsuit has a structured top with a zipper & collar; those together can draw attention upwards perfectly.
And the bonus – structured shoulders help you broaden them so they are proportionate with your lower body better.
Midi skirt + button-down shirt
If you are more interested in pear-shaped outfits for work, this is one you can try.
So, to achieve this look, you can style a midi skirt with a striped button-down.
The only thing I would change here is the color of the skirt. Darker colors, like dark blue or something, would be better for pear body shaped women.
Midi and A-line skirts (and dresses) are very flattering for your body.
Now, about button-down.
If you decide to choose this outfit, look for a button-down shirt with vertical stripes. It visually lengthens your torso and can help cover any extra kilos.
I know all those tricks seem very duplicated, but once you are into them, you will know what you are doing.
Peplum top + wide-leg pants
Every top that has something interesting on it looks very flattering on a pear body shape.
If you love wearing classy outfits and you are looking for some clothes for pear shaped women, you should go for those tops;
- Boat, square, and off-shoulder tops
- Puff sleeve tops
- Ruffled or pleated tops
- Peplum tops
- Wrap tops
- Crop tops, jackets, blazers
Cigarette pants + vest
This is the outfit that combines all the tips I shared today. Agree with me, this looks so flattering, doesn’t it?
Solid colors – white on top, black on the bottom, shape of the pants, flattering cut in front of vest, cap sleeves – those together do their magic.
By the way. If it’s your first time hearing about existing different body shapes and you want to know more, I recommend you to check out the body types section on my homepage.

Midi dress + pointed toe shoes
I already mentioned my article about looking taller and slimmer.
Pointed-toe shoes are one of the things that do their best to make your legs look longer.
I discussed various topics but did not mention how amazing deep V-necklines are for women with pear-shaped bodies.
The V-neck alone draws attention to the upper body, elongates the torso, and adds a flattering vertical line.
Not to mention the a-line shape, fitted waist, and all black look.
Shortly, if you are looking for some pear figure outfits this is the first one you should go for.
Too casual outfit inspo
Outfits that I recommend always work great. But this is an outfit that has some flattering and unflattering features.
So, let me talk a little bit about them so that you are gonna find out how you can improve a similar outfit.
What’s right?
- ✔️ A cropped top – as we already said, showing a bit of the waist draws attention to the narrowest part of the body, which is great for pear shapes.
- ✔️ Dark color on top – black naturally slims and minimizes the upper half, which can help balance out a curvier lower body.
- ✔️ High-waisted fit – pants are loose, but the high waistband helps define the waist rather than hiding it completely.
What’s wrong?
- ❌ Flat shoes + long pants – this combination makes your legs look shorter. Shorter pants or cropped length would fix the problem here.
- ❌ Super baggy pants – I will not start explaining why I don’t like wearing baggy pants but… These pants don’t look flattering on a pear body shape since they add even more volume to the lower body.
You can swap oversized sweatpants for structured joggers, straight leg jeans, or flared leggings to elongate your legs.
You can also change flats to chunky sneakers or platform boots to add more height to your body.
This is what the outfit would look like if you follow the tips I recommend here.
Don’t you like it more?
And here we are at the end of the article.
I hope you learned some great tips and tricks that I use for my everyday outfits.
Hope you enjoyed looking at some flattering pear shaped outfits.
